Bennie Ray Hill

Bennie Ray Hill Castlewood, VA ~ Bennie Ray Hill, 49, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport Tennessee.    He was the son of the late Maynard Ralph Hill; also preceded in death by his wife, Judy Deel Hill; a daughter, Amanda Kay Clevenger.    Survivors include his mother, Alcie Mae Hill, Coeburn; one daughter, Linda Hill, Charleston, WV; eight sisters, Rosa Lee Moore, Dungannon, Violet Marie Ball, Ashville, NC, Glenda Mae Castle, Haysi, Rhonda Joyce Taylor, Pound, Lillie Jean Hileman, St. Paul, Rebecca Jo Mooney and Crystal Denise Perrigan, both of Coeburn, Patrica Lynn Hill, Big Stone Gap; two brothers, Maynard Ralph Hill Jr., Coeburn, and David Mark Hill , St. Paul; one granddaughter, Paisley Shae Blevins ; one grandson, Michael Paul Hill and several nieces and nephews.    Funeral services for Bennie Ray Hill  will be held on Wednesday March 9, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Brent Fielder officiating. Burial will follow at Hill Cemetery, on Caney Ridge. Visitation will be held Tuesday after 6:00 P.M. at Estes Funeral Home. Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, Coeburn, VA.

James Michael Gleason, Jr.

James Michael Gleason, Jr. Coeburn, VA ~ James Michael Gleason, Jr., 84 passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Norton Community Hospital in Norton Virginia.     He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW 2.     He was the son of the late James Michael Gleason, Sr. and Carrie Amanda Gleason; also preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Richardson Gleason.     Survivors include one son, William E. Odle Sr., Dallas, TX; one sister, Doris Nellie Jeeter, Baltimore, MD and grandson, William E. Odle, Jr. and several nieces and nephews.    Visitation for James Michael Gleason, Jr. will be held after 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Estes Funeral Home Chapel and funeral services will be held at 7:30 PM with Rev. R. L. Crawford officiating. Burial will be Thursday March 24, 2011 at Greenwood Acres Memorial Gardens. Military graveside service will be furnished by Coeburn V.F.W. Juanita Bond

Juanita "Nita" Turner Bond Coeburn, VA ~ Juanita "Nita" Turner Bond, 101, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Mountain View Medical Center in Norton Virginia.    She was born Sept. 18, 1909 to the late Henry E. and Lucy Geneva Hilliman Turner; also preceded in death by her husband, E. H. Bond; sisters, Betty C. Rothwell and Alice Counts; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. R. R. Turner & Mary Ruth Turner; nephew, Robbie Rothwell.    Nita was a lifelong resident of Coeburn, and was a retired school teacher. Having taught school in Coeburn, Riverview, and Tacoma for 35 years. After retiring she then worked for Headstart for 25 years, retiring at age 96.    She was a member of South Coeburn United Methodist Church, where she played the piano until her death.    Survivors include, special friend, Betty Hughes; nieces, Lynn Allio, South Carolina;  Ellen Gutierrez, Nashville, TN and Cindy Rothwell, Florida, and caregiver, Wanda Hughes.    Nita's request was to be cremated. Graveside Memorial service will be held May 8, 2011 at3:00 P.M.  in Greenwood Acres Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are being handled by Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave. NE, Coeburn, VA.
