W. A. "Rass" Dishman

Coeburn, VA ~  W. A. "Rass"  Dishman, 91 passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015, at his residence in Coeburn.
   He was a retired employee by Clinchfield Coal Co., member of U.M.W.A. and a member of Coeburn Masonic Lodge #97 A.F. & A.M.
   Rass was the son of the late James and Mary Horne Dishman; also preceded in death by his wife, Ida Mae Maine Dishman, brothers, Jack Dishman, Joe Fred Dishman, June Dishman and Troy "Dot" Dishman; sister, Carrie Dishman.
   Survivors include daughters, Francis Harris, and husband, Larry, Sandusky, OH, Barbara Bond, and husband, Richard, Sandra Dishman Robinette, all of Coeburn; son, Don Dishman, and wife, Shirley, Sandusky, OH; brother, Huey Dishman and wife, Sherry, Maryland; half-brothers, Carl Younce, Richmond, VA and Freddie Younce, Martinsville, VA; two half-sisters, Louise Kennedy and Glenna Baker both of N.C.; special friends, Hurley Mitchell, Ralph Wells and Freida Cegiel. 7 Grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

   Visitation for William Abner "Rass" Dishman will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 after 6:00 P.M. at Estes Funeral Home Chapel and funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. with Rev. Curtis Bond and Rev. Ralph Wells officiating. Coeburn Masonic Lodge #97 A.F. & A.M. will furnish and Evening Masonic service prior to the funeral. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave., Coeburn, VA.


 

Shelby Jean Moore

Coeburn, VA ~ Shelby Jean Mays Moore, 71 passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport Tennessee.
    She was the daughter of the late Worley Mays and Cecil Mays; also preceded in death by two sons, Benji Moore and Jeffery Moore; a sister, Faye Mock.
    Survivors include her husband, James (Bud) Moore; three sons, Steve Moore, Coeburn, Randall Thompson, Warner Robins, GA and James Ray Moore, Nickelsville, VA; a sister, Charlotte Marie Absher, Norton; two brothers, Teddy Joe Mays, Norton, and Gary Maggard, Wise; 12 Grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

   Funeral services for Shelby Jean Moore will be held on Tuesday,  January 6, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Maggard officiating. Burial will follow in the Salyers Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday after 6:00 P.M. at Estes Funeral Home. Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave., Coeburn, VA.


John Wesley Smith

Coeburn, VA ~ John Wesley Smith, Jr., 78 Passed away Monday, January 5, 2015 at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City Tennessee.
    He was the son of the late John Wesley Smith and Lora Letha Smith; also preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Estep; seven brothers, Elmer Smith, Delmar Smith, Munford Smith, Freddie Smith, Bobby Smith, David Ancil Smith, and Donnie Joe Smith; 1 great grandchild.
   Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Anna Lou Smith, Coeburn; Daughters, Lora Ward, Donna (Michael) Whisenhunt, all of Coeburn and Teresa Miller, Wise; son, Timothy (Tammy) Smith, Dryden; sister, Lois Irene Marshall, Castlewood; 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
   A special thanks to Home Nursing in Clintwood and LifeCare Ambulance for all the care and support.

Freida Iris Greear

Coeburn, VA ~ Freida Iris Wheatley Greear, 76 passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at her residence in Coeburn Virginia.
    She was a former employee of Flatwoods Job Corp.
    She was the daughter of the late Harold Wheatley and Dussie Mae Wheatley; also preceded in death by her husband,  Ernest Glenn Greear and a son, Jeffrey Harold Greear; a brother, Beecher Wheatley.
    She is survived by three daughters, Myra Lawson, Franklinton, NC, Dena (Kim) Frazier, Bracey, VA and Joy Ward, Coeburn; three sons, Kevin Greear, Louisburg, NC, Keith Greear, Franklinton, NC and Mark Greear, Zebulon, NC; two sisters, Maxine Buchanan, Kingsport, TN and Judy Wilson, South Lyon, MI;  several grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

   Visitation for Freida Iris Greear will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015 after 6:00 P.M at Estes Funeral Home Chapel and funeral services will be held at 7:30 PM with Rev. Wayne Perry officiating. Burial will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Temple Hill Memorial Park. Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave., Coeburn, VA.


Carter Glen McCoy

Nora, VA ~ Carter Glen McCoy, 74 passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Indian Path Medical Center in Kingsport Tennessee.
    He was the son of the late John 'Hop' McCoy and Mabel McCoy; also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley McCoy.
    Survivors include two daughters, Diana Hayes, St. Paul, and Debbie Nelson, Walnut, MS; a son, Jeff McCoy, Aurora, IL; a sister, Ruby Brickey, VA; a brother, Clyde McCoy, Nora; a step-son, Allen Hayes, Michigan, MS.;16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

   Funeral services for Carter Glen McCoy will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM at McCoy Chapel Church with Pastor Stacy Vanover officiating. Burial will follow at McCoy Cemetery on Brushy Ridge. Visitation will be held Friday, after 6:00 P.M. at the McCoy Chapel Church, on Brushy Ridge. Coeburn, VA ~ Flora Reedy McCoy Stansberry, 95 passed Friday, January 9, 2015 at Mountain View Medical Center in Norton Virginia.
    She was the daughter of the late David Reedy and Ida Caroline Reedy; She was also preceded in death by her husband, Maynard Stansberry, Jr. and first husband, Lonzie McCoy; two daughters, Jean Pitzer and Judy Crider; five sisters, Mae Stapleton, Fannie O'Quinn, Bessie Sexton and Julie Robinson; three brothers, twin brother, Edward Reedy, Woodrow Reedy and Otte Reedy; a granddaughter, Valerie Baker.
    Survivors include a daughter, Adele Baker, Coeburn; three sons, Jimmy McCoy, Mechanicsville, VA, Charles McCoy, Charles City, VA and Donald McCoy, Lakeland, FL; two step-daughters, Terry Lawson, Coeburn and Sherry Payne, KY; 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
 
   Funeral services for Flora  Stansberry will be held on Sunday January 11, 2015 at 7:30 P.M. at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leslie Ritchie officiating. Burial will be Monday January 12, 2015 at McCoy Cemetery, the family will meet at 12 Noon and leave in procession. Morris Donovan James

Coeburn, VA ~  Morris Donovan James, 64 passed away Monday, January 12, 2015 at Mountain Home VA Medical Center in Mountain Home Tennessee.
    He was the son of the late Robert James and Hannah Ruth James; also preceded in death by a sister, Gereva Hunnicutt; two brothers, Roy Allen James and Leon James.
    He survived by his wife Glenda Faye James, Coeburn; three daughters; Heather Marie James, and Amanda Nicole James, both of Coeburn, Ruth Ann James, Baltimore, MD; a son, Aaron James, Baltimore, MD; a sister, Nola James , Kingsport, TN; a grandchild, several nieces and nephews.

   Funeral services for Morris Donovan James will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Farmer and Rev. Tommy Kiser officiating. Coeburn, VA ~ Orpha  Powers Salyers, 90 passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol Tennessee.
    She was the daughter of the late Morton Powers and Molly Salyers Powers; also preceded in death by her husband, Harlin McKinley Salyers Sr. and a son,Harlin McKinley 'Sabie' Salyers, Jr.
    Survived by three Nephews, Danny Powers, Toledo, OH, Timothy Powers, Waldo, WI and Jimmy Powers, Toledo, OH and three Nieces, Linda Friddell, Toledo, OH Debbie Collins, Ottawa Lake, MI and Sandra Friddell, Port Washington, WI.

Loyal Gradyen Freeman

St. Paul, VA ~ Loyal Gradyen Freeman, 73 passed away Friday, January 16, 2015 at his residence in St. Paul Virginia.
    He was a veteran and served with Air Force.
    He was the son of the late Orbin Freeman and Lona Freeman; also preceded in death by his grandmother, Betty Turner, sister, Glenda Hooker; two  brothers, Roger Freeman and Harlan G. Freeman.
    Survivors include his wife, Patsy Winebarger Freeman, St. Paul; three daughters, Yvonne (Mat) Roller, IL, Brenda (Kurt) Grandstrom, WA and Julie Sperlazza, ID; a son, Jeff Freeman, TX; two sisters, Susie Meullian, and Betty Lovett, both of Johnson City, TN; four brothers, Dewey Turner, Wise, Dale (Kathy) Freeman, Sycamore, IL, Jerry (Doris) Freeman, Dekalb, IL and Ronnie Freeman, Wise; 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, several nieces and nephews.

Kathleen M. Riner

Coeburn, VA ~ Kathleen M. Collins Riner, 89, passed away Monday, January 19, 2015 at Mountain View Medical Center in Norton, Virginia.
    She was the daughter of the late Dan Collins and Cassie Mae Hall Collins. also preceded in death by her husband, Tilford Riner, two sisters, Frankie Gibson and Juanita Gilbert; two brothers, Harold Collins and Willis Collins.
    Survivors include a sister, Jo Ann Keener, Coeburn; two brothers, Douglas Collins, and wife, Brenda and Burnice Collins and wife, Mary Alice, all of Coeburn.

   Visitation for Kathleen M. Riner will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 after 5:00 P.M. at Estes Funeral Home Chapel and funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM with Rev. Tony Harold Moore

Coeburn, VA ~ Tony Harold  Moore, 60 died Monday, January 19, 2015 at  in Coeburn Virginia.
   He was the son of the late Curtis Dan Moore and Leado June Moore.
   Survivors include his wife, Crystal Sexton, Coeburn; a daughter, Leoda Tabathia June Moore, Appalachia; two sons, Kenneth Moore, Coeburn and Robert Moore, NC; sisters, Teresa Moore, Linda Stanley and Janet Moore both of Coeburn; 4 grandsons, 4 granddaughters.

Mr. Moore was cremated.



Robert Stewart Brown

Coeburn, VA ~ Robert Stewart Brown, 66 passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 at Mountain View Medical Center in Norton, Virginia.
   He was a loving husband and father. His Lord and family were his life. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Coeburn. He served in the military for 23 years with the U.S. Marine Corp, Army and Army National Guard. serving in Vietnam and Operation Desert Shield/Storm in Saudi Arabia. He was a member of the VFW Post in Coeburn and former assistant scout leader with Coeburn Boy Scout Troop 301. He was a former member of the masonic lodge in Coeburn and a retired employee of the Virginia Dept. of Transportation.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, William Edwin Brown and Jessie Pearl Yingling Brown, sisters, Anne Diffendorfer and Minnie Ingle.
   He is  survived by his wife, Billie Counts Brown; two daughters, Vanessa Ivens, and husband, Philip and Victoria Brown, all of Knoxville, TN; two sons, Brian Edwards Brown, Lynchburg, VA and Robert Shane Brown, Coeburn; mother in law, Connie Counts, Coeburn; a sister, Blanche Baumgardner and husband, Clyde, Pennington Gap; a brother, Harvey Brown of IL; grandson, Wyatt Brown, and granddaughter, Morgan Ivens, both of Knoxville, TN.

   A memorial service for Robert Stewart Brown will be held on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 7:00 PM at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Adkins officiating. The Family will receive friends at the church from 5 PM until service time. Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, Coeburn, VA.

Roanoke, VA ~  Randy Douglas Salyers, 46 passed away Monday, January 26, 2015 at his residence in Roanoke Virginia.
    He was the son of the late Doc Clement Salyers and Nancy Jean Lynthlin.
    He is survived by his wife, Maria Benenato Salyers, Roanoke, VA; two sisters, Linda Gail Rose and Deborah Lynn Bright, both of Coeburn; three brothers, Jerry Lee Salyers, James Michael Salyers and Tim Culbertson, all of Coeburn; a step-son, Nicholas M. Sperduto, Roanoke.

   Visitation for Randy Douglas Salyers will be held after 5:00 P.M. on Friday, January 30, 2015 and funeral services will be at 7:00 PM at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. R. L. Crawford officiating. Burial will be 1:00 PM Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Greenwood Acres Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave., Coeburn, VA.


Erma Jean Stidham

Coeburn, VA ~ Erma Jean Stidham, 82 of Coeburn, our precious wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, gracefully entered those Pearly Gates to her eternal Heavenly home awaiting her Tuesday, January 29, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
    Erma Jean's true passion was loving her Lord and Savior and her wonderful husband of nearly 65 years. She was a homemaker and loved all of her family from the depth of her heart. She was a member of Pippin Chapel Church on Caney Ridge.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Rolla and Ebbie Hamilton and a brother, Hugh Hamilton.
    She is survived by her loving husband, Omar Dayton Stidham; daughters, Linda and Tim Sabo, Wise, Marlene and Eddie Rose, Darlene and Kermit Buchanan, Rhonda and B. J. Castle, all of Coeburn; sons, Wayne and Marla Stidham, Coeburn, and Bruce Stidham and companion, Linda Lee, Coeburn; grandchildren, Stacey Stidham Crossen, Coeburn, Greg and Carla Stidham, Clintwood, Ryan Stidham, Wise, Matthew Freeman, Jeremy Buchanan, Hannah Buchanan, Brooke Large, Kayla Rose and Katelyn Stidham, all of Coeburn; great grandchildren, Zachery Stidham, Clintwood, Alexis Stidham and Rhaelynn Rose, Coeburn, Gemma Stidham, Wise, who were all the delight of her life.    Funeral services for Erma Jean Stidham will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 7:00 P.M. at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Nolan Stanley officiating. Burial will be 12 Noon Sunday February 1, 2015 at Pine Grove Community Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday after 5:00 P.M.until funeral time at Estes Funeral Home. Charles "Duddle" Lacy Winebarger

 

Charles Winebarger

Charles "Duddle" Lacy Winebarger, 67, of Coeburn passed away on February 3rd. Charles was born on January 22, 1948. He was a devoted and faithful Christian.
   He enjoyed volunteering his time in the community. Serving on the Coeburn Rescue Squad for 20 years, he brought hope and comfort to people in need. Many years of his life were dedicated to Coeburn Little League. He loved coaching and teaching younger generations. As an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, and gardening. His greatest joy came from passing these traditions on.
   Charles was preceeded in death by his father, Lacy, and his brother, Conley Dean.
   Charles is survived by a daughter, Kim Collins and a husband, David; two sons, Shane Winebarger and wife, Kim; and Kevin Winebarger. Charlie also leaves behind his beloved companion, Ann Haun and her daughters Tonya Tipton and husband, Jack; Glenna Sparks; and Crystal Haun. Other survivors are his special nephew, Brad Winebarger, and his son, Connor. Grandchildren are Ethan Long, Nate Long, Ethan Collins, Emily Winebarger, Clay Winebarger, Gabe Tipton, Mykah Tipton, and Lane Sparks. Charles is also survived by his mother, Bobbie Jean; five siblings - Glenda Kiser, Ethelene Hill, Barbara Elswick, Denver Winebarger, and Danny Winebarger; and many neices and nephews.

   Services for Charles will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 5th at Estes Funeral Home in Coeburn. His brother, Rev. Denver Winebarger, will officiate the services with other siblings providing music and songs. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until the time of services. Graveside services and burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 6th in Greenwood Cemetary in Coeburn. Family and friends will meet at 10:30 am to go to the cemetery. Arrangements are by Estes Funeral Home in Coeburn.

   She was the daughter of the late Leonard Stewart 'Bus' O'Dell and Mabel Irene O'Dell; also preceded in death by her husband, late Donald Church; a brother, Michael O'Dell and a sister, Barbara Jeanie Yates.
   Survivors include a son, Jessee Church, Chilhowie; two sisters, Mary Catherine Yates, Coeburn, and Toni Lynn Stallard, Ivor, VA; several nieces and nephews.

   Memorial services for Vicie Faye Church will be held at Reaching Up Reaching Higher Church in Cranes Nest at 2:00 P.M.   Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave., Coeburn, VA.

Hillsville, VA ~ Charles Clinton Salyers, 82 passed away Monday, February 23, 2015 at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Salyers and Thelma Kiser Salyers; brothers, William Salyers, Kenneth Salyers and Hubert Salyers; a sister, Marie Salyers. Survivors include a brother, Ronald Salyers and wife, Billie, Sandusky, OH; a sister, Betty Tinnel and spouse, Thomas, Milan, OH; a host of cousins and friends. Visitation for Charles Salyers will be held Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015 from 12 noon till funeral time at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Gary Stanley and Wayne Keith officiating. Burial will be in Rugsby Cemetery on Caney Ridge. Arrangements are being handled by Estes Funeral Home, Inc., 114 High Ave. NE, Coeburn, VA.

Dorothy Glenice Rambo Edwards

St. Paul, VA - Dorothy Glenice Rambo Edwards, 80, has a new adress. She left Johnston Memorial Hospital at 7:58 P.M. Saturday for her new home. Her new address is Streets of Gold in Heaven Eternally.
   She was greeted there by her husband, Ival Edwards, her son, Jimmy Ray Edwards, her parents, Ed and Belle Rambo, her sisters, Barbara Musick, Joyce Jessee and Mildred Charlotte Rambo and one niece Carol Porter.
   She leave behind one daughterm Jean Palmer and husband, Larry, one grandson, Jeremy Palmer, all of St. Paul, VA; one brother, Norman Rambo and wife Barbara of Tallahassee, FL. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, special friends Charlotte Lawson, Rhena Paige, Eva Bellamy, Virginia Korn, Wanda and J.R. Moore and Judy Hill.
   Glenice was a member of Friendship Baptist Church of Coeburn. She never met a stranger and would talk to anyone. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be missed greatly by her family but our loss is Heaven's gain.

   Visitation will be held a Estes Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm with the funeral at 7 p.m. with Rev. Johnny Adkins officiating. Burial will be at Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, VA. Pallbearers are nephews, Carson Lawson, Jr., Ronnie Bruner, Gary Douglas Meade, Mike Meade, James Stallard and Roger McClellan. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie McClellan, Larry Jessee and Michael Jessee. In Lieu of flower, donations may be made to the Brown Bag Lunch  program in care of Friendship Baptist Church, 111 Tate Ave. NE, Coeburn, VA 24230. The family would like to thank First Choice Home Health, The Laurels Assisted Living and whe wonderful CCU & PCCU unit at Johnston Memorial Hospital.

    She was the daughter of the late James Jackson and Mary Hinkle Jackson; also preceded in death by her husband, Otis Luther; a son, Robert Lester Luther and a daughter, Linda Luther Carty; brothers, George, Jess, John, Joseph, Teddy and Tom; sisters, Hazel, Nanny, Emmer and Gracie.

Janie Elizabeth Barron "Muddear" was born on May 9, 1932 in Straight Hollow, Virginia to Saul W. Perry and Dorothy May Thomas oldest child of nine. Hers was a life given purpose through the family, laughter and community. In all these ways and more, she was a true representation of life.
   At the tender age of 19 she married her husband, Eugene Barron in Virginia. She raised five children, Sheila, Jacquetta, LaRhonda "Zamurrad", Dionne and Garland "Gary". Janie was always the center of attention and everyone who knew her was influnced by her grace, love, style and feistness. Janie AKA "Muddear" was one of a kind and all would claim her as their own.
   After separation from her husband, Janie went to New York City in search of a better life for her and her family. She was intrigued by excitement of the Big Apple and made that her home. Janie was a people person and she used that to her advantage and became a barmaid in some of the most famous nightclubs and bats in Harlem.
   While working as a barmaid she met her lifelongpartner, Paul Day. Together they not onl raised five children but also helped to raise her nieces, Angie and Lisa Thomas, Janie's extended family included her grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and friends.
    Janie is preceded in death by: her mother, Dorothy Mae Ella Thomas-Hill, daddy M.L. Thomas, father, Saul W. Perry, her daughter Sheila D. Barron-Fisher, her siblings, Melvin L. Thomas, Norman E. Thomas, Henry L. Thomas, Harry L. Thomas, Garland D. Thomas, Geraldine Thomas-Freeman, and Francis Thomas, and her nephews, Wallace A Foster and Harry L. Thomas (Snapper).
   She leaves loved ones to carry on her legacy; children, Jacquetta A. Barron-Simmons, LaRhonda Barron (Zamurrad), Dionne Barron- Jones (Kevin), and Garland D. Thomas, Jr. "Gary". Also her only surviving sister, JoeAnn Foster and her grandchildren, Kenneth Fisher (Goldie), ShaRhonda Simmons, Messiah Ferguson, Alena Simmons, (Jeffrey Brock), Alan Simmons Jr. (Asante Dabney) and Amram Gainer and seven great-grand children. A host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins and friends.

Age 93

On March 20, Stafford peacefully fell asleep in death at his home in Banner, near Coeburn VA.
   Stafford loved people. He was a story-teller with a great sense of humor. A Banner landmark is his famous "bottle house" and he was known world-wide for his quilt making. What a joy it will be to one day see Stafford again by means of the Bible's promised resurrection.
   Stafford was an active member of the Coeburn Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses since his baptism in 1971.
   He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Louise Jordan, and his two children, Ray Jordan and wife Tina of Hillsboro, North Carolina, Jo Ella Wright and husband David of  Lebanon, VA, 5 grandchildren, Timothy Jordan of South Carolina, Kathy Jordan in North Carolina,  Stacey Lemons and husband Leon Lemons of North Carolina,  Jenny Wilson and husband Craig, living in Brooklyn, NY,  Tully Wright and wife Dawn, currently in Mozambique, Africa and 2  great grand-children,  Sienna and Kent Lemons. Stafford also had 3 "grandchildren of the heart" he dearly loved, Jeremiah Jonsrud, Jennifer Villa and Jessica Blair and one surviving sister, Helen Smith of Abingdon as well as nieces and nephews.

   A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday March 28, 2015, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 126 Dickerson Ave, Coeburn, VA.

Coeburn, VA - Janice Marie Adkins Mullins 65, went home to be with her Lord and Savior March 31, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family after a long, courageous battle with cancer. 
   She was born on July 25, 1949 in Clintwood, Va to the late William Jess Adkins and Mary Elizabeth Adkins. She had the privilege of being part of a large family with 12 siblings that she adored. 
   She attended Reaching up Reaching Higher Christian Church. She was a faithful servant and loved the Lord with all her heart.  She wanted to spread the Word and shared His love with everyone she met.  
   She graduated from Coeburn High School in 1968 and shortly there after married the love of her life. She had three children and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her children beyond words. 
   She was a regular attendant to Coeburn/Eastside High sports functions cheering on her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed the camaraderie she shared with the other parents and grandparents and considered many of them her dearest friends. 
   She was preceded in death by her parents, William Jess Adkins and Mary Elizabeth Adkins. Also preceded in death by her siblings, Jessie Adkins, Loretta Jenkins, Thomas Adkins, and Martha Stapleton. Sister-in-law Carolyn Adkins, and brothers-in-law Bobby Culbertson and Darrell Mullins.
   She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Gilbert Harold Mullins and her children Tammy Allen ( Eddie) of Norton, VA, Harold Mullins (Kristy) of Coeburn, VA, and Brent Mullins of Big Stone Gap, VA. She had eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren, Andrew Farmer, Justin Mullins, Skyler Allen, Haley Mullins, Cole Mullins, Shawn Mullins, Presley Mullins, Aabie Farmer, Cash Mullins, Easton Farmer, and Raelynn Farmer. She is survived by the following siblings: Judy Yates (Ray) Coeburn, VA, Joyce Mullins Clintwood VA, Kathy Plaster (Arthur) Coeburn, VA, Ruth Hamm (Winfred) Coeburn, VA, Johnny Adkins Coeburn, VA, Marcus Adkins ( Susie) Coeburn, VA, David Adkins (Cathy) Nora, VA Melissa Culbertson Appalachia, VA and a host of family and friends.

   He was a kind and caring father, loving and devoted grandfather and a loyal friend to so many.
   He is survived by his brother, Earl Ball and wife Lola Ball of Coeburn, VA and his sister, Hazel Kimbley of Livingston, TX. He is also survived by his daughter, Kathy LaForce of Coeburn, VA, his son Burley Ball, Jr. and wife Martha Ball of Coeburn, VA, his daughter, Mattie Zieniewicz and husband Andy Zieniewicz of Blueflied, WV, his daughters, Lena Smith of Norton, VA, Ellen Kennady of St. Augustine, FL and Mae Camron of Tucson, AZ. He has 2 grandsons, 6 granddaughters and 4 great grandsons and 4 great granddaughters. And many nieces and nephews.

    Carolyn was a champion of the enviroment and cattle industry devoting her volunteer energies to the Lonesome Pine Soil & Water Conservation District, Farm Bureau, Cattlesmen's Association and many other worthy causes.
    She was the daughter of the late Alvin Ray Newman and Nina Marie Newman.

    He was former owner and operator of Clarks Garage in Coeburn.
    He was the son of the late Sherman Clark and Betty Cloud Clark; also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
    Survivors include long time companion, Mildred Plaster; two daughters, Connie Lawson, and husband, Joe  and Tammie Hughes, and husband, Ricky all of  Coeburn; a son, Michael Clark and wife, Linda, Wise; sisters,Nell Yeary, and Shirley Clark, both of Coeburn and Betty Jean Hughes, Big Stone Gap; 9 grandchildren, 8 great gradnchildren, several niece and nephews and a large extended family.

   She was born in Norton, Virginia on April 14, 1976. She served God faithfully and shared the Gospel in how she lived her life. She attended Banner Revival Center where she played drums and encouraged everyone she met. She fought a good fight and kept the Faith and loved by many.
   She is survived by her parents, Virgil Lee and Rose Marie Younce, Norton; Two  Sister 's, Tiffany Thompson, and husband, Matt, St. Paul, and Kelli Younce, Coeburn; a brother, Virgil Younce II , Norton; two nephews she loved dearly, Axton Howard and Titus Thompson; several uncles, aunts, cousins and a host of friends.

   She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Milburn and Elizabeth Ada Jane Salyers; grandson, Eric Gross and granddaughter-in-law, Shelly Gross; four brothers and five sisters.

   She was the daughter of the late Jack and Margie Marie Babb Jessee; also preceded in death by her husband, Claude Roger Glover; a sister, Pamela Jessee; three brothers, Larry Jessee, Barney Jessee and Eddie Jessee.

Coeburn, VA ~ Frank "Great" McReynolds, 72, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at his residence in Coeburn Virginia.
   He was born Jan. 16, 1943. Frank was a 1961 graduate of Coeburn High School. He married his high school sweetheart on April 28, 1963.
   He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Alderson and Clara Vonda McReynolds; a daughter, Kerri D. McReynolds, a brother, Kenneth McReynolds and grandson, Ricky Kekelis.
   Frank is lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Frances Meade McReynolds; two daughters, Regina Bristow, and husband Doug, Cornell, IL and Angelia M. McReynolds, Bloomington, IL; two grandsons, Ryan Kekelis, Somonauk, IL and Kenneth McReynolds, Wise; brother, Lacey McReynolds, Coeburn; several nieces and nephews.
   Frank was a certified diesel mechanic and retired from Caterpillar after 30 years of service. He owned and operated Frank's Quality Used Tires from 2008 to 2013. He was an active member of his community and the Norton Church of God.

Mattie Ella Hamilton Hill

Mattie Ella Hamilton Hill, 81, of Coeburn, Virginia, ascended to her heavenly home on October 20th, 2015. Surrounded by loved ones, she took flight from Bristol Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
   Mattie Ella was born May 21st, 1934 and was a graduate of Coeburn High School and Radford University. She was a devoted mother and wife, and was married to Paul Hill on April 24th, 1954, her husband of 45 years.  She was a devout Christian, and a member of Trinity Life Center in Coeburn, Virginia.  She was a beloved teacher; her most memorable years were at Maple Grove Community School where the community adopted her as family.  She retired from the Wise County School Board, but remained an active member of the community by serving in the Norton Lions Club and the Board of Trustees of Saint Mary’s Health Wagon.
   Mattie Ella was received in Heaven by her parents, Emmitt Hamilton and Orlena Gouge Hamilton; her brothers, Watson Hamilton and Danny Ray Hamilton; and her beloved husband Paul Hill.
   Her legacy lives on in her daughter, Paula Hill Meade and son Paul David Hill; grandson, David Shane Meade, wife, Haley Marie Cantrell Meade, and expected great-grandson, Daxton Shane Meade; granddaughter, Jaida Ariella Grace Meade; Mattie Ella’s sister, Hazel Kennedy; as well as her “daughter of the heart” Teresa Gardner and “grandchildren of the heart” Ashton Brooke, Tyler Austin, Kaylee Shae, and Brent Wesley Gardner; special friends, Elmer Mack and Sandra Kiser; and a host of friends and loved ones.

   The funeral is under the direction of Estes Funeral Home in Coeburn, Virginia. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, October 21st, 2015 from 5-7pm at Trinity Life Center in Coeburn, Virginia; services will follow at 7pm conducted by Reverend John McCarroll and Joe Deary. Graveside services will take place at Gouge Cemetery in Coeburn, Virginia at 2PM on October 22nd, 2015 at 2pm.

St. Paul, VA ~ Helen Beatrice McClellan Meade, 92 left her loved ones here on earth at 1:47 pm on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 to receive her crown and join her loved ones who had gone before in Heaven.
   Helen was born to Tom and Lula McClellan on March 19, 1923. She had three brothers, Bob, Bill & Junior McClellan and three sisters, Ola Evans, Melba Ring and Shelva McClellan who all preceded her in death.
   On September 16, 1944 Helen married Walker Meade. After 23 years of marriage and having 7 children together, Walker was killed in a mining accident. This left Helen to pull her children close and become both Mom and Dad to them. A more loving mother would be nearly impossible to find.
   Helen was a member of McClellan's Chapel. Her church family was very near and dear to her heart.
   Helen loved her dog, Tina and all of her cats. She enjoyed gardening, canning and spending time with her family. Helen lived and loved life to the fullest and enjoyed always being around those she loved.
   Helen was also preceded in death by her oldest child, Winston Meade and her youngest, Terry Meade.
   She is survived by her sons, Darris Meade and wife, Betty of Coeburn and Frank Meade of Sandy Ridge; her daughters, Ilene Couch, Big Stone Gap, Bonetta McCoy husband, Dwight, Sheila McCoy and husband, J.C. all of Sandy Ridge; 8 grandchildren, Lori Meade, David Meade, Chip Meade, Jimmy Couch, Kim McCoy-Hawk, Chad McCoy, Jay McCoy and Brad McCoy. 16 great grandchildren, three special boys, Darrell Turner, Hal Sander and Stacy Vanover; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
   Helen was a Godly woman who left her handprints on the hearts of many. She will never be forgotten.
   She fought a good fight-She kept the faith-Amazing Grace has won the race ...and we are all richer for having know her.

Coeburn, VA ~ William Lee “Will”  Buchanan, 68 went peacefully to be with his Lord and Saviour on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Mountain View Medical Center in Norton Virginia.

    He was the son of the late Emory Eugene Buchanan and Mary Isabelle Buchanan; Also preceded in death by his brothers, Charlie and Emory.

    Left to cherish his memory is his childhood sweetheart and wife, Brenda Kerren Buchanan; a daughter, Teresa (Kirk) Osborne, Coeburn; a son, Bill (Jamie) Buchanan, Norton; grandchildren, Savannah (Steven) Harvey and Isabelle Buchanan; great grandchildren, Cole Harvey and awaiting the arrival of Avery Harvey in December; sister and brother by heart Mary and Ernie Collins; special nephew, David Collins; daughter by heart, Elaine Minor; several nieces and nephews and his church family at Banner Assembly of God, where he served as deacon. He was known by many kids as 'Papaw' at church and in the community.

   He was a former employee of Alpha Resources.
   He was the son of the late Buddy Altony Green and Brenda Gail Green; also preceded in death by a brother, Randy Greene; a sister, Karen Skidmore; a nephew, Chase Greene.
   Survivors include his wife, Megan Mullins Green, Norton, VA; daughters, Nicole (Jackie) Sluss, Coeburn, and Taylor (Peyton) Green, Johnson City, TN; son, Dalton Green, Pound, sisters, Susan Pasko, Texas, Sandra Selph, Warsaw, VA, Robin Ramsey, Coeburn, Candice Perry, Orange, VA; brothers, Mike Green, Norton, and Steve Greene, Clincho; granddaughter, Sammie Jo Sluss; grandsons, Evan Sluss and Drew Sluss; step-daughters, Alexis Mullins and Sydney Mullins both of Norton; step-son, Gage Mullins, Norton and several nieces and nephews.
