Coeburn, VA ~ Paris Dewayne Lell, 52 passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2014 at his residence in Coeburn Virginia.
    He was the son of the late Paris Lell and Carmen Marcella Lell.
    He is survived by a daughter Beth Browning, Appalachia; a son, Daniel Lell, St. Paul; a sister, Sheila Hicks, Castlewood; two brothers, Kenneth Lell, Dungannon and Darrin Lell, Hinesville, GA; his companion, Geraldine Styles; 3 grandsons; several nieces and nephews.

   Visitation for Paris Dewayne Lell will be held on Friday, January 10, 2014 after 12 noon at Estes Funeral Home and the family will leave in procession for graveside services which will be held at 2:30 PM at Old Powers Cemetery in Dungannon, VA with Rev. Charlie Taylor officiating. Burial will follow after the graveside service. Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave., Coeburn, VA.

Coeburn, VA ~ Michael Landon"Bo" Laney, 50 passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands Virginia.
    He was of the christian faith and a former employee of Roger's East End Tire and Auto.
    He was the son of the late Essie Paul 'Bob' Laney and Eirma Lois Baker Laney.
   Survivors include a son, Darrin Hayes, Sarasoto, AL; a sister, Carolyn Sue McCoy, Coeburn; three brothers, Danny Laney, Castlewood, Bobby Darrell Laney and David Laney both of Coeburn; one aunt, Jeanette Baker, Coeburn; lifelong  friends, Dale Brooks, Bruce Hamm and  Roger Yates; several nieces and nephews.

   Visitation for Michael Landon Laney will be held after 6:00 P.M. on Friday, January 10, 2014 at Estes Funeral Home Chapel and funeral services will be held at 8:00 PM with Rev. Mitchell Elliot officiating. Burial will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday January 11, 2014 at Carter Cemetery in Ft. Blackmore.  Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave, Coeburn, VA.

Mary Rose Lawson

Coeburn, VA ~ Mary Rose Lawson, 93 passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Brookhaven Manor in Kingsport Tennessee.
   She was a member of Mary's Chapel Church, homemaker, caregiver and a teacher aid for Wise County Schools.
   Mary was the daughter of Ernest H. and Martha Pluma Doughtery Ramey; she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. James Rose and her second husband, James C. "Beeb" Lawson; sisters, Edith Ramey, Nita Robbins Kilgore and Delores Eloise Fiedman; brother, Joe Ernest Ramey, Sr.; son-in-law, Carlton Guertler.
   She is survived by one daughter, Marilynn Rose Guertler, Cincinnati, OH; four sons, Nick R. Rose, and wife, Franja, Blountville, TN, James E. Rose, and wife Pam, Coeburn, David B. Rose, and wife, Cheri Caribou, Maine and Paul M. Rose, and wife Rhoda, Panama City, FL; three sisters, June Wolfe, Kingsport, TN, Fay R. Miller, Lexington, NC and Nancy Ahearn, Warrenton, VA; several wonderful grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
   Special thanks to Brookhaven Manor for their care and kindness.

   Visitation for Mary Rose Lawson will be held after 6:00 PM Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014 at Estes Funeral Home Chapel and funeral services will be held at 8:00 PM with Rev. Les Ritchie and Rev. Marty Puckett officiating. Burial will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 at the Ramey Cemetery in Coeburn. Estes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Coeburn, VA ~ Travis Michael Pennington, 37 died Monday, February 3, 2014 at Mountain View Medical Center in Norton Virginia.
   He was the son of the late Patricia Ann Hamilton.
   Survivors include two sisters, Jazzmon Elizabeth Short , Coeburn, and Jessica Greene, Baltimore, MD and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

A Memorial service will be held at a later date.

Alice Lenore Jones

 Coeburn, VA ~ Alice Lenore Collier Jones, 87 passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014 at her residence in Coeburn Virginia.
    She was a former employee of J. & H. Cable Service. Devoted wife, mother, nana and recent great nana and aunt.
   Alice was born May 7, 1926 in Jenkins, KY and was the daughter of the late Worley F. Collier and Katherine Ringle Collier; also preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Jim Jones and several brothers and sisters.
   Alice is survived by two sons, Jimmy Fayre Jones, Johnson City, TN and Steve Jones, Coeburn; a sister, Mildred O'Dell, Pound; two grandsons, Brian Jones and Jonathan Jones and two great grandchild, Landon and Rhys and several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who knew her.
   Special thanks to her excellent care giver Kim Stanley and family.

   Visitation for Alice Lenore Jones will be held on Sunday February 9, 2014 after 6:00 P.M. at Estes Funeral Home Chapel and funeral services will be held at 8:00 PM with Rev. Joyce Faye Osborne Boyd

Bristol, VA ~ Joyce Faye Osborne Boyd, 83 passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at her daughter Barbara's residence in Annapolis, Maryland.
   Joyce's journey in this life has ended and now her new life has begun.
   Joyce was born March 22, 1930 to the late Roy James Osborne and Betty McReynolds Osborne.
   Survivors include two daughters, Robin Walters, and Barbara Boyd, both of Annapolis, MD; two sons, Randy Boyd, and Martin Boyd, Annapolis, MD; three  sisters, Shirley and James White, Bristol, VA, Rita Dotson, and Irene Osborne, both of Coeburn; three brothers, Max Osborne, and wife, Lillian, Abingdon, VA, Neil Osborne, and Russell Lee Osborne, both of Coeburn; six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

   Graveside service and burial will be held 12:00 Noon Monday, Feb. 17, 2014 at Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, VA with Rev. Doug Trent officiating. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave. NE, Coeburn, VA.

Coeburn, VA ~ Raymond Mooney, 58 entered eternal rest Monday, February 17, 2014 at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City Tennessee with his family at his side.
  Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Addie Ruth Whiteside Mooney and Joe Bill Mooney, maternal grandparents, Elizabeth and William Whiteside; paternal grandparents, Ruth and Harve Mooney and a special friend, Orville Plaster.
   He is survived by Rebecca "Becky" Jo Hill Mooney (Santana, Cody, Kaitlin); two brothers, Estel "Pete" Whiteside (Nancy),  Olaphe, KS and Nathaniel "Buddy" Mooney (Frances), Coeburn, VA; two sisters, Joann Mooney, Coeburn, VA and Brenda Ravizee, (Jake), Lynch, KY; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

   Visitation for Raymond Mooney will be held Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 at Estes Funeral Home in Coeburn after 6:00 P.M. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor Johnny Adkins officiating. Internment will follow in the Clinch River Baptist Association Cemetery in Coeburn. Randall Eugene Stout
 

 

A much loved father, grandfather, son  and brother.

St. Paul, VA - Randall Eugene Stout, 61 passed away at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Feb. 21, 2014 with his daughter La Randa and his son David by his side.
   He was born in Norton and raised in Coeburn for many years before moving to St. Paul.
   He was a graduate of Coeburn High School, He spent Many Years working in the Coal Industry of Southwest Virginia.
   He was preceded in death by his father Garland G. Stout.
   He is survived by his children, Daughter La Randa Stout Merlette and her children, Christopher and Alexandra of St. Paul; his son Alan Eugene Stout of Abingdon and his children, Bailey, Kailey and Weston all of St. Paul. His son David Wayne Stout and wife, Amanda and their child Tanor of Coeburn; His mother Mavis Ruth Stout of  Abingdon; His brothers, Delmar Stout and wife, Carolyn of Salem, Lowell Stout and wife, Tish of Tazewell, Dennis Stout and wife Kay of Abingdon;  His very special companion of many years, his dog Crickett. Several nieces and nephews.

   Funeral service for Randall Eugene Stout will be held Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alvin Meade and Rev. Kevin Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the Edwards Cemetery on Sandy Ridge in Coeburn. Visitation will be held after 6:00 P.M. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014 at the Funeral Home. Estes Fneral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 Coeburn, VA ~ Cecil Wayne 'Race Horse' Stanley, 59 went to be with the Lord and his final resting place Friday, February 21, 2014 at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City Tennessee.
    He was a beloved family member and cherished worker of the Town of Coeburn and Veola.,    Wayne was a native of Coeburn.
   He was the son of the late Art Vincent Stanley and Goldie Vee Hill Stanley; also preceded in death by three sisters, Virginia Gail McDonald; Donnell Hamilton and Betty Carleene Stanley; three brothers, Roy Dean Stanley, Joseph Clyde Stanley, and Phillip Alvin Stanley.
   Survivors include his wife, Brenda Edwards Stanley; three daughters, Tiffany Stanley, and Kaylee Stanley both of Coeburn, and Zelma Orfield, and son-in-law Jackson, Kingsport, TN;  one son, Justin Wayne Stanley, Coeburn; one sister, Brenda Hill, Sterling, VA  one brother, Robert Franklin Stanley, Coeburn; a granddaughter, Alyssa 'Bree' Breanne Counts; a grandson, Ronnie Dylan Counts; special friend, Pete Lawson; several nieces and nephews.
   He will be missed a lot by family and the people of Coeburn.
   We Love you Wayne and you will be greatly missed.

    She was a retired school teacher and she and her husband owned Large Grocery on Caney Ridge.
   She was the wife of the late Troy Edgar Large.
   Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
 
   Visitation for Wilma Jeanette Large will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 after 6:00 P.M. and Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roetta A. Mullins Evans, a loving mother and grandmother, age 75, went home to be with her Lord and Savior March 10, 2014 at her home. Born in Dickenson County Va.
   She was the daughter of the late Hurbert and Sadie Mullins.
   She is preceded in Death by her two brothers Dennis and Darvin Mullins and two sisters Agnes Frasier and Fredia Younce.
   Survivors include her two sons, Jimmy Darrell Marshall and wife Ruth, of Coeburn, Va., and Ernest Palmer Bartley Jr. and wife Shirley, of Connelly Springs, NC.; Three grandchildren Adam Marshall and wife Stephanie of Hiddenite, NC, Charlie Ray Marshall and wife Brittney of Bristol, TN, Steven Andrew Bartley of Connelly Springs, NC, Step-mother Elizabeth Johnson, two half-brothers Orbie and Gerald Mullins and three half-sisters Corina Hileman, Elaine Wray, and Lilina Gilbert; Five great-grandchildren Hayleigh Marshall, Bella-Rae Marshall, Dalton Marshall, Peyson Marshall, and Nicholas Marshall.
  
   The family will receive friends at Estes Funeral Home in Coeburn, Va. Wednesday March 12 at 12 noon until 2pm. Funeral service will follow at 2pm followed with graveside committal at Greenwood Cemetery in Coeburn, Va

Coeburn, VA ~ Cora Elizabeth (Betty) Michael Jones, 92 went home to be with the lord Thursday, March 13, 2014 at her residence in Coeburn Virginia.
   She was a retired school teacher and a member of First Baptist Church in Coeburn.
   She was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Wateree Michael; and was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert D. Jones.
   Survivors include a daughter Joyce Karlene Lord, and husband, Robert, Virginia Beach, VA; two sons, Michael Irwin Jones and wife, Rita, Coeburn, and   Herbert Donald Jones II and wife, Lenoir Jones, Haysi, VA; 10 Grandchildren, Crystal Lord Morrison and Husband, Chuck, Robbie Lord, Mark Lord and wife, Brandi, Amber Lord, Michael Lord, Shane Barton and wife, Lora, Jon Jones and wife, Kelsey, Sarah Beth Lawson and husband, Brett. Sabrina Jones and Ryan Jones; Great grandchildren, Aaron Morrison, Daemon Guill, Kayla Lord, Elizabeth Lord, Jacob, Mike Lord, Matt Lord, Emma Barton, Julia Barton, Carter Lawson and Crosby Lawson; Several neices and nephews.

   A memorial service will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Coeburn with Rev. R.J. Rose officiating.    She was a member of Cranes Nest Bible Church in Cranes Nest.
   She was the daughter of the late Rufus Clay.
   Survivors include her husband, Rev. Bruce Martin; Mother Leoda Fay Clay, Coeburn, VA, one  daughter Joyce Lynn White, and husband, Brandon Lee, Coeburn; one son, Bruce Allen Martin and wife, Roberta Jean, Coeburn; Grandchildren, Hadassah White, Alyssa White and Lauren White; Sisters, Gail, Jane, Judy, and Janice; brothers, Johnny, Gerald, Roger and Lanice; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-laws and many special friends, nieces and nephews.

     Visitation for Joyce Lynn Martin will be held on Monday, March 17, 2014 after 6:00 P.M. at Cranes Nest Bible Church and funeral services at 7:00 PM with Rev. Steve Gunter officiating.    She spent her time in Coeburn and Hertford, NC with her fiance, Robert Amos, Hertford, NC..
   She was the daughter of the late Garfield Salyer and Annie Barker Salyer; also preceded in death by husbands, James L. Hall and Clarence Castle; son, James Randall Hall; granddaughter, Katey Martin; brothers, Grover Salyer and Luther Salyer; sister, Ethel Alford. 
   She is survived by daughters, Susan (Richard) Robinson, Naples, FL and Sonya (Jack) Martin, Fort Myers, FL; grandsons, James (Sheri) Sublett, Walterboro, SC and John Paul Akers, Naples, FL; great granddaughter, Kynslie Akers, Naples FL; sister, Gladys Kersey, Warner Robins, GA.

   Funeral services for Jean Castle will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Lawson officiating. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery. Coeburn, VA ~ Frankie Mae Trivette Meade, 83 went to be with the Lord  Tuesday, March 25, 2014 who fought a courageous battle of cancer with her family at her side at Mountain View Medical Center in Norton Virginia.
   She was an inspiration to everyone who met her.
   She was the daughter of the late Ollie Frances Trivette and Bessie Dooley Trivette; also predeceased in death by her husband, Calvin Coolidge Meade; infant daughter, Vickie Lynn Meade; daughter-in-law, Diane Gay Meade; Sister, Shirley Ann Meade; brother, Carson Trivette.
   Frankie is survived by daughters, Glenda Mayhew and husband, Les, Prince George, VA, Cathy Moore and husband, David, Hopewell, VA, Kimberly Meade, Pinehurst, NC and Tonya Maggard, and husband, Gary, Wise; sons, Billy Joe Meade, Coeburn and Steven "Butch" Meade, Wise; sisters, Frances Greear, Coeburn, and Pearl Sanders, Fort Blackmore, VA; brother-in-law, Marcus Ival Meade, Coeburn; Grandchilden, Nova Meade, Christopher Meade, Chelsea Meade, Brianna Meade, Kinsley and Kristen Maggard; great grandchildren, Savannah and Madison Laney; her beloved cats, Rose, Lucy and Redcat; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Coeburn, VA ~ Elbert Freddie McCarty, 72 passed away Friday, April 18, 2014 at Norton Community Hospital in Norton Virginia.
   He was a loving father, husband, brother and friend to all that knew him.
   He was a retired coal miner and a Vietnam Veteran. 
   He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Albert and Irene McCarty, and a grandson, Arthur M. Turner, Jr.
   Survivors include his wife, Sheila Immogene Brummett McCarty; daughters, Rebecca and Arthur Turner, and Brittney McCarty, and Martin Franks, all of Coeburn; son, Elbert Freddie McCarty, Jr., Coeburn; sisters, Mary and Michael Clark, Hubert, NC, Nancy and Danny Hillman, Dungannon, Betty and Robert Burton, Coeburn and Susie and Lennie Powers, Pound; Brothers, Jackie and Kathy McCarty, Danny McCarty, James McCarty, Billie McCarty and Tommy and Jeannie McCarty all of Coeburn; grandchildren, Dakota Turner, Taylor Turner and Colton Franks; Several nieces and nephews.

William Steven Hylton

William “Steve” Hylton, 64, of Rutledge, Tennessee passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014 in Adamstown, Maryland surrounded by his family.
   Steve was a long time resident of Coeburn and graduated from Coeburn High school class of 1968.  He was employed by Mahle Inc. in Morristown, Tennessee as an electrician.  He also owned and operated two former businesses in Coeburn, First Choice Video and Coeburn TV and Electronics. 
   Steve was the son of the late Martin Junior Hylton and Minnie Lee Lawson Hylton of Sandy Ridge.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 24 years, Delores “Dotty” Greear Hylton .
   He is survived by his spouse, Christine Hylton of Rutledge, TN; daughters, Jody Hylton, Coeburn, VA and Vickie Hylton Marshall and husband, John, Adamstown, Maryland; one brother, Martin Wesley “Wes” Hylton, and wife, Karen, South Bend, Indiana. Four grandchildren; Zachary Church, Norton, VA;  William “Cheyne”, Erin, and Ryan Marshall, Adamstown, Maryland; one great grandchild, Parker Church.


   Friends may call Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 5-7 pm.  The funeral will be in Coeburn at Estes Funeral Home at with the Rev. Marty Puckett officiating on Thursday at 11 A.M. followed by burial at the Blankenbecler Family cemetery in Flatwoods. Estes Funeral Home Coeburn, VA is in charge of arrangements.

    He was the son of the late Deckery  Keith and Opal Keith.
    Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Stout Keith; a son, Brian Keith, Coeburn; sister, Thelma Dooley, Sandusky, OH, Barbara Dillinger and Anna Mae Keith, both of Coeburn, Sharon Hopkins, Piney Flats, TN, Betty Howard, Fayettville, NC; four  brothers, J. Coeburn, Virginia - James S. "Jim" Owens, Sr. of Coeburn, VA passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center.
   He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Lorena Owens and daughter, Theresa D. Collins.
   He was a veteran of the Korean War , foreman for Westmorland Coal Co. for 25 years. He also loved the Chicago Cubs and Nascar Racing.
   Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Trula Owens; daughter, Patricia Baer and Reid of Erwin, TN; sons, James Owens, Jr. and Liz of Wise, Michael Owens, Abingdon, MA and Jon Owens and wife, Margaret , Coeburn; sisters, Joan Kennedy and Shy, Castlewood and Linda Domby and Roger, Ashville, NC; grandchildren, Cari, Erin, Brandon, Justina, Courtney, Nicholas, Sam, Michael,  Mitch and Jacquelynn; great grandchildren, Dylan, Alyssa, Parker, Paisley, Kayleigh, Jase, Erin, Alyssa, Hunter and Taylor; Several nieces and nephews.

   Visitation for James Owens, Sr. will be held Sunday, April 27, 2014 after 12 Noon at Estes Funeral Home Chapel and funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM with Pastor Brian Rose Officiating.     Georgia was born May 28, 1930 and was the daughter of Orbin Meade and Ada Alice Meade also of Sandy Ridge. In addition to her parents, Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Frank Milhorn; sister, Edna Barrowman McKenny; a granddaughter, Amber Nicole Meade.

Coeburn, VA ~ Mary Elizabeth Hale Adkins, 89, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her loved ones Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Norton Community Hospital in Norton, Virginia.
    Ma was a devoted Christian that fought a good fight and kept the faith.
    She was the daughter of the late Jessie Elbert and Katherine Rebecca Holyfield Hale; also preceded in death by her husband, William Jess Adkins; daughters, Sylvinia Loretta Jenkins and Martha Caroline Stapleton, sons, Thomas Edward Adkins and Jessie James Adkins; granddaughters, Madonna Mullins and Sherry Hamm; sisters, Margaret Stair and Avia Pannell; twin brother, Joe Hale and other brothers, Burl, Otmer, Harold, Darrell, Frank and Estil Hale.

     He was a member of First Baptist in Coeburn, Coeburn Masonic Lodge #97 in Coeburn, U.S. veteran of WWII and former employee of Saba Market in Pound.
     He was the son of the late Cossie E. Gibson and Elizabeth Ringley Gibson; also preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Lynette Gibson; three sisters, Virginia Grubb, Helen Brickey and Mabel Corder; two brothers, Emanual Cossie Gibson and Buford Gibson.
    Bill is survived by one sister, Margie Bouchelle, Northeast, MD special friend, Jenny Mullins and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Coeburn - James Lewis "Hippie" Hillman passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday October 8, 2014.
   He was a longtime residence of Breeding's Trailer Park. He was loved and respected by his community and spent his lifetime helping neighbors, friends and family and was well known for his generous and loving spirit.
   He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Bernice Hillman.
   Jimmy is survived by two children, Windy Jennine Miller of Spotsylvania, VA and Aaron James Hillman and his wife, Amanda of Tampa, FL; 5 grandchildren, Kaitlin, Kourie, Aubrie, Hunter and Peyton; great granddaughter, Harper; siblings Lee and Sandy Hillman of Hazard, KY, Randy and Wanda Hillman of Winston-Salem, NC, Cathy and Jeff Smith of Gladesprings, VA, Libbey and David Hale and Teresa and Glenn Meade all of Coeburn; Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.

   She was born July 13, 1924 in Coeburn, VA to the late Walter and Sarah Bond Lawson. She attended Shiloh Freewill Baptist Church in Bristol, VA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Emmitt Salyers, infant son, Walter Salyers, daughter, Sue Lawson and grandson, Shawn Dykes.

    He was preceded by his late wife, Mary Katherine Akers, son, Thomas Wesley  'Spikie' Akers, his parents, George Akers and Virgie Akers; sister, Louella Adkins; two brothers, Donnie Lee 'Rooster' Akers and Hershel 'Nig' Akers.

Billy Ray Porter

Billy Ray Porter passed into Paradise Sunday November 2, 2014 at Holston Valley Hospital surrounded by his  family and loved ones.
   Bill was the son of the late Emmett and Golda Porter. He was preceded in death by one sister, Peggy Jordan and husband Arch, brothers Garnet Porter, Glen Porter, Wendell Porter, Cecil Porter and wife Alta, brother-in-law Scott Daugherty.
   Bill left behind his wife of 46 years Diann Porter, son Richard Porter and Rene, daughters Kelly and Jane Porter, three grandchildren John R. Hall III, Shaun and Summer Meade, one great grandchild Hattie Meade, brothers Joe Porter and Marie, Fred Porter and Dorothy, Paul Porter and Rhonda, Arthur Porter and Wanda, Belle Daugherty, Janice Yeary and Bud, and several special nieces and nephews.  
   Bill was a United States Air Force Veteran. Some of the things he loved and valued most were his Rural Missionary Baptist Church Family and the Wise County Historical Society where he authored and helped with the publishing of many books on genealogy and family histories. He believed that everyone should know their family history and understood the value of passing that on. He loved God, life, old gospel hymns, and being Santa at the Porter Family Christmas Bingo every year.  He will be deeply missed by all his family and loved ones.

Loretta Rose Hamilton

Coeburn, VA ~ Loretta Rose Hamilton, 70 passed away Monday, December 15, 2014 at her niece's residence in Coeburn Virginia.
   She was was a lifelong resident of Caney Ridge. 
   She was the daughter of the late Tivis  Rose and Effie Perrigan Rose; also preceded in death by her late husband, Raymond Hamilton; a sister, Margie Carty, brothers, Willie J. Rose, Marlin J. Rose, Kenneth Rose, and Berlin Carrol Rose.
   Survivors include a brother, Harold Rose, Coeburn; and several nieces and nephews.

   Graveside services and burial will be Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Hamilton Cemetery on Caney Ridge with Rev. Doyle Gouge officiating. Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave. NE, Coeburn, VA.


 

Danny Lynn Page

Norton, VA ~ Danny Lynn Page, 63 passed away Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014 at his residence in Norton Virginia.
    He was an employee of Mullician Flooring in Norton.
    He was the son of the late Howard  Page and Elenor Teasley Page; also preceded in death by two sisters, Cleo Burke and Doris Leotia; two brothers, Charles Page and Billie Ray Page.
   He is survived by five sisters, Lois Salyers, Darlene Cambell, Carolyn Langston, all of GA., Nina Mullins, Norton, and Mildred Fultz, Big Stone Gap; two brothers, Larry Page, Coeburn, and Keith Page, AK; several nieces and nephews.

   Funeral services for Danny Lynn Page will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ernest Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Acres Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Friday after 6:00 P.M. at Estes Funeral Home. Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave, Coeburn, VA.


Zelma Anne McConnell Smith

Bristol, TN ~  Zelma Anne McConnell Smith, 73 passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol Tennessee.
   She was the daughter of the late Sham Plain McConnell and Grace G. McConnell; also preceded in death by husband, David Smith; sisters, Eloise Hill and Charlotte Barger; a brother, George Stanford McConnell.
   Survivors include a daughter, Iris Mata, Bristol, TN; future son-in-law, Ricky Staubus, Bristol, TN; Three grandchildren, Heath Allen Skinner, David A. Mata and India S. Mata.

The body was cremated and a memorial service will be at a later date.

Douglas Wayne Gouge

Coeburn, VA ~ Douglas Wayne Gouge, 66 passed away Friday, December 26, 2014 at Mountain View Medical Center in Norton Virginia. 
  He was a former employee of the Town of Coeburn.
  He was the son of the late Lawrence Edward Gouge and Ora Grace Gouge; also preceded in death by two brothers, Kester Doyle Gouge, and Dalford Gouge.
   Survivors include a daughter, Amanda McCoy, and husband, David, Coeburn. a son, Calvin Gouge, and wife, Gwen, Norton; a brother, Harold Gouge, Muncie, IN; grandchildren, Bryan Gouge, Jonah Gouge, Calvin 'Slim' Gouge and Jonathon Everidge; special nephew, Doyle Gouge.

   Funeral services for Douglas Wayne Gouge will be held on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doyle Gouge officiating. Burial will be Monday December 29, 2014 at Gouge Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday after 5:00 P.M. and a song service at 7:00 P.M.
